RECAP + HIGHLIGHTS: FC Supra vs. Forge FC | 2026 Telus Canadian Championship (Semifinals, Leg 1)

FC Supra thought they had drawn first blood in their TELUS Canadian Championship semifinal. But at the death, Daniël Krutzen stole an equalizer for Forge with one of the match's final kicks in a 1-1 first-leg draw. 

There are no away goals in this year's Canadian Championship, so the second leg will kick off on Sept. 15 entirely level on aggregate. Forge have never lost at home in this competition in regulation so historically, at least, the late goal swung the momentum in the Hamilton club's favour. 

Having met in the league on Friday evening, also at Stade Boréale, both sides made significant changes. The hosts made six, as they were captained by former Forge attacker David Choinière. Forge, meanwhile, made four, including bringing in Nana Ampomah and Tristan Borges.  

Supra had the first real chance of the match as Matisse Chrétien made a great run forward, igniting an attack that eventually found its way to CPL leading goalscorer Loïc Kwemi out wide. He beat his man cleverly, but his low cross was collected by Dimitry Bertaud in the Forge net. 

With this being the fourth meeting of the season between the two clubs, and second in five days time, there was no love lost. In the 26th minute, a scuffle between Supra's Charles Auguste and Ampomah saw the latter booked. 

Forge came closest next, as in the 32nd minute, Ampomah hit the post from a tight angle. 

But with Forge holding the majority of the ball, Supra found moments to get forward on the counter and create threatening opportunities. In the 36th minute, it paid off, as Kwemi again found himself free down the left flank. 

Cutting into the box, the Supra attacker was forced backward, but cleverly curled and picked out Condé in the box. The striker took a touch and then slid the ball past Bertaud to give Supra first blood in the series. 

Forge desperately pushed for an equalizer before the half, with Ahgilas Sadek forcing a great save from Joakim Milli in the 42nd minute on a turn and strike. Milli came up big again in first-half stoppage time, this time with an even better save as he denied a Dan Nimick header. 

Forge made a pair of changes early in the second half, looking to shift the momentum, bringing on Noah Jensen and striker Brian Wright. 

In the 65th minute, Forge came incredibly close again, hitting the woodwork for the second time in the match, this time on a vicious strike from defender Daniel Krützen that struck the post to Milli's left. 

Once again holding a late lead against Forge, FC Supra defended valiantly, fighting for each loose ball and giving the Hamilton club nothing for free. The Hamilton club continued to put Supra under siege.
