Mexico to host summer W Championship on OneSoccer

Canada's women's national team doesn't yet know its path to World Cup qualification, but it does know the location of Concacaf's debut qualifying competition: The Concacaf W Championship.

Concacaf revealed Monday two venues – both in Monterrey, Mexico – will host the qualifying tournament held between July 4-18 on OneSoccer. The tournament’s 16 matches will be split across Estadio Universitario and Estadio BBVA.

OneSoccer is set to air portions of the qualifying tournament from Feb. 16-22, and again in April, to determine which sides will join the United States and Canada, both of which automatically qualified for the final round.

During this month's qualifying phase the top finishers from each of six, five-team groups (30 teams) will advance to a final round featuring two, four-team groups (eight teams).

Later this year, the four semi-finalists from the final stage will automatically qualify for the 2023 Women's World Cup. The winner of the inaugural W Championship will automatically qualify for the 2024 Olympics while the second- and third-place finishers will play-off for Concacaf's second Olympic berth.
