The Vancouver Whitecaps mustered a 1-1 draw in Leg 1 of their Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals matchup vs. Pumas UNAM at BC Place in British Columbia.

An uneventful first half saw zero shots on target registered as the Whitecaps and Pumas UNAM battled it out to establish a foothold on the match. And while the lights at BC Place offered a bit of a distraction during the ebbs and flows of the second, it would take until the 71st minute before the home support could celebrate a go-ahead goal via Brian White's finisher in a chaotic box sequence on a corner.

But that lead would only last for about 15 minutes as Adalberto Carrasquilla hit a sweet volley in the 87th minute to bring the game back level at 1-1. While the Whitecaps nearly responded in added time via an Emmanuel Sabbi header, the effort hit the post and was cleared away as Pumas UNAM held on to take a crucial away goal back to Mexico City next week.
